Battle of Bunker Hill
Historical Overview
The Battle of Bunker Hill was the first major, coordinated engagement of the American Revolutionary War, occurring during the Siege of Boston. Although British forces launched costly assaults to drive the colonial militia from the hills of Charlestown, securing a tactical victory, the battle was a profound moral triumph for the Americans. It demonstrated that inexperienced colonial forces could inflict severe casualties on the regular British Army, effectively ending any hopes for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
