Preliminary note : The victorious Battle of Talavera de la Reina (28 July 1809) was such an important step in freeing Spain from the 6-year long napoléonic yoke (1808-1814) that it has been commemorated by several monuments : in 1909 by this one and ►(File:Talavera de la Reina, Laurel of Victory pf 28 July 1809.jpg), and in 2009 by ►(File:Talavera de la Reina 1809-2009.jpg) and ►(File:Talavera de la Reina, Laurel de la Paz 1809-2009.jpg).
Obelisk erected in 1909 on the Cumbre de Medellín, near Talavera de la Reina, to commemorate the first centenary of the Victory of Talavera de la Reina, 27-28 July 1809 by the Anglo-Luso-Spanish forces over the French invading troops. 

 Now in a fence-off private plot.
